What do I need to use LegalTechNet? |
LegalTechNet
(LTN) training modules were developed to provide the optimal
learning experience using Macromedia Flash video technology
and audio narration. To accomplish this, LegalTechNet modules
require the following:
- Broadband Internet connection (DSL, Cable Modem, T1,
etc.)
Note: LegalTechNet training modules have been tested with 56K dial-up connections
and will work under optimal line conditions
- Microsoft Internet Explorer version 4.0 or above
- NOTE: If you have
software to block 'Pop-Ups', you will need to disable
blocking for the LegalTechNet modules.
- Although the LegalTechNet training modules will work
with a screen resolution of 800 x 600, we highly
recommend that you set your screen resolution to 1024 x
768 or greater for optimal quality.
- Macromedia Flash Player (click the icon below to get
this plug-in)

What is the best way to use LegalTechNet training modules? |
The LegalTechNet eLearning system offers three distinct learning styles or modes. These three styles,
Step-by-Step Learning, Competency-based Learning and Just-In-Time
Learning can accommodate the learning needs of a wide range of busy legal
professionals from the 1st time user to the seasoned expert looking for a
refresher course.
Step-by-Step Learning is designed for the
beginning user. The curriculum is broken down into manageable courses
(101, 201, 301, etc.) with individual competency assessments to allow the student to evaluate
their progress before attempting the next level course.
Competency-Based Learning is designed
for the experienced, but possibly 'rusty' user. Based on the results of
pre-assessment questions, the learner is guided to the specific learning modules
needed to refresh their
skills based on their current competency level.
Just-In-Time Learning
allows a learner to use the JIT search engine to quickly locate a 5 minute
training module required to learn a specific function to meet an immediate need.
We have found that the optimal learning method for the LegalTechNet
training modules is to open the training module and the actual
application you are learning at the same time. The LegalTechNet
training modules allow you to start, stop, pause, fast
forward, fast rewind and scroll through the content.
Using these buttons, you can play a short section of the
module then pause the module while you try what you've learned
in the actual application. Repeating this procedure
throughout the module will allow you to best learn and retain
the information.
The default order of the modules on the Module Menu screen
is the recommended learning sequence for those users who need
a complete training experience on the application.
